5G Open RAN
Traditional Radio Access Network (RAN) platforms have been based on proprietary hardware, causing long cycle times for development, deployment, and operation. Lekha offers Open RAN (O-RAN) 7-2x split based 5G, providing disaggregation and freedom from vendor lock-in, fast time-to-market and software-based RAN controllers that run on COTS hardware, for cost optimization.
Our products include the RU, CU, DU and the Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) node. The RU is available for both indoor and outdoor deployment in most popular 5G bands, including n28, n1, n38, n41, n48 (CBRS) and n78. The CU and DU protocol stacks are internally developed, enabling timely technical support and upgrades.
Lekha provides turnkey 5G networks, working jointly with our ecosystem of 5G Core vendors, Systems Integrators and deployment services specialists.
Lekha 5G O-RAN Central Unit (CU) and Distributed Unit (DU)
Lekha’s 5G O-RAN CU and DU are designed as cloud-native functions that can be deployed in the cloud or the edge or a combination of both, as required by service providers. Network functions move from dedicated hardware platforms to virtualized software components that can be implemented on COTS servers, pooled in central/regional/edge data centers. This approach helps achieve significant CAPEX and OPEX savings, increases flexibility and agility, and ensures shorter time to market.
Lekha maRUt® O-RAN Radio Unit (RU)
Lekha’s portfolio of O-RAN compliant radio units consists of the maRUt® series. The RUs are available in three options – a high-power variant up to 40W per antenna for outdoor deployment, a mid-power unit at 5W/antenna also for outdoor deployment, and a low-power unit with 250mW/antenna for indoor use. All units implement control, user, synchronization and management plane functions as defined in the O-RAN specifications for the 7-2x split option.
maRUt™ RUs support popular 5G FR1 frequency bands, both FDD and TDD, and with in-built or external antennas. Band support can be extended to any of the NR bands defined in the FR1 frequency range, with a clear business case.
Lekha SMO
Lekha’s Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) node supports remote provisioning, configuration, fault and performance management of Lekha’s 5G O-RAN product portfolio, including the RU and the CU and DU running on COTS servers. It can easily be integrated to northbound 3rd party nodes such as Network Management Systems (NMS), using Rest APIs. In later phases, the SMO will support Non-Real-Time RAN intelligent Controller (Non-RT RIC) capability as well.
